Digital Library Trolley Volunteer
We are looking for volunteers aged 18+ to take our digital library trolley to inpatient wards at Llandough Hospital.
Volunteers will take the trolley to allocated wards, offering patients the opportunity to borrow a digital device, such as a portable DVD player, DVDs, reading materials, and activity packs.
Volunteers will help make a difference to someone’s day with a friendly face, a chat and offer them a film to watch to pass the time.
This role includes walking long distances and manual handling.
What you will be doing
To stock the trolley with DVD players, a variety of DVDs and activity resources
To issue these resources to patients and arrange returns
To keep a log of items on loan
To be a friendly face to patients, chatting to patients about their taste in films and having general conversation
To liaise with the nurse in charge and staff on the ward to identify which patients/areas may be approached
Time commitment: A suggested weekly time commitment is 2 hours per week, days and hours negotiable with the organisation (available Monday – Friday), with a longer-term time commitment for at least 6 months
Expenses reimbursed: Travel expenses are reimbursed to/from location on day of volunteering.
Training provided: Full training is provided.
Selection procedure: Informal discussion, application form completion, occupational health check, 2 references and a disclosure and barring check.
