Inviting referrals for new support group for adult survivors

Following funding from a GVS small grant, we shall be piloting a support group for adults survivors of abuse in Barry. The pilot groups will enable individuals to share day to day experiences, learn and share coping mechanisms, and explore learnings in an informal environment. Group discussion will NOT explore individual events and experience of abuse.

Groups will be small, for up to 5 individuals. The aim is to run 3 groups per week, over a 10 week period. Group sessions will last between 60-90 minutes. All participants will be assured by strict confidentiality. Participants need not use their real names; and they can say as much or as little as they are comfortable.

We are keen to establish the scale of need, and demand; as well as to pilot groups to evidence what participants need, and feel the gaps in provision may be. Week on week, the sessions can adapt to continuous feedback. We envisage groups will run in Barry. However, we are open to feedback.

What next

Please get in touch if you have clients who would find this beneficial or if you would like to find out more. You may also be able to offer a venue for a weekly group.
