Vale of Glamorgan Public Services Board's Age Friendly Vale Draft Action Plan

The Vale of Glamorgan's Public Services Board (PSB) are working together with local community organisations and members to help make the Vale an even better place for us to grow older in. In October 2023, the Vale of Glamorgan became the fourth local authority area in Wales to be awarded Age Friendly Status from the World Health Organisation. The Status was awarded because we were able to show a serious commitment in the Vale of Glamorgan with partners working together to make the Vale more age friendly and help ensure the Vale is a place where people of all ages are supported to live and age well, particularly those aged 50+.

The next step in our journey to make the Vale more age friendly is to develop an Age Friendly Vale Action Plan. The Action Plan will show what steps we will be focusing on to help us achieve the commitments in our Age Friendly Vale Charter. The PSB are building a draft Action Plan based on national and local data, feedback from partners, research and advice from the Older Peoples Commissioner for Wales' Team and insight from local residents.

To help us hear from as many people as possible in shaping the actions for the Age Friendly Vale Action Plan 2025 -2028 the PSB have launched a short survey which will run from Monday 17th June 2024 – Sunday 11th August 2024. Paper copies of the survey have been made available in various community venues including local libraries.

Over the summer we will also be ‘popping up’ at local venues to provide residents the opportunity to share feedback face to face. Please see the Community Feedback Sessions timetable for details.

You can keep up to date with the journey to make the Vale more age friendly on our webpage.
