Ygam Training

This year is Ygam’s 10th anniversary and as part of our commitment to educate and safeguard young people, we are offering a special St David’s Day workshop. This will feature new and updated statistics specific to Wales, alongside the benefit of our City & Guilds assured, fully funded training offer for youth facing professionals and volunteers.

We are proud of what we have achieved over our 10 years, and the recognition we have received for this work from senior politicians and leaders in the treatment and recovery space.

This 2-hour Wales specific gaming and gambling harm prevention training will cover the topics of:

  • Why children/young people might participate in gaming/gambling as well as statistics specific to young people in Wales

  • What is meant when we talk about gaming/gambling related harms

  • How to spot the signs of gaming and gambling related harm

  • Where to go for help and support

  • How to run harm prevention sessions directly to young people within your service

All in the hope we can improve your confidence in talking about these topics therefore removing the stigma that is often associated with them.

Upon completion you will be given free access to our resources hub that includes a collection of age appropriate, bilingual resources for schools that have been mapped to fit within the new Curriculum for Wales, and youth work resources that have been designed to fit within a variety of different delivery times and age groups. We will also be releasing our bilingual ‘Safer Gaming Top Tips’ flyers for both parents and young people as another tool for your organisation.

We have also launched our new Alumni network that, following completion of our certificated training, will take you on a deeper dive into some of the key topics such as: Microtransactions, Cryptocurrency, Esports, Supporting the LGBTQ+ community, Lived experience talks and a film showing of our award winning “Do it for Her” short that looks at specific issues within diverse communities.

Our Wales specific training is being run on St Davids Day (1st March 2024) 10:00-12:00 and you can register here: Please click this link

If you’re unable to attend the date, please contact us to find out more about other our fully-funded opportunities including bespoke sessions for 12 or more people.
