Carers' Week 2024 (10 June - 16 June)

If you care, unpaid, for a friend or family member, who is a person with a disability, has physical or mental ill health or a person with a substance use disorder, you are an unpaid carer.

Carers' Week, taking place from 10-16 June, is a UK-wide awareness campaign looking to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities. It is backed by eight major charities.  The theme for 2024 is 'Putting carers on the Map'. https://www.carersweek.org/

Local events organised by other organisations, held during Carers Week, will be shown on the search function here: https://www.carersweek.org/ways-to-get-involved/activities/

Funded short breaks for unpaid carers in Wales

Funded by Welsh Government, the Short Breaks Scheme is a new initiative to support unpaid carers of all ages in Wales to take a break from their caring role.

A short break is more than just a yoga class or an overnight stay in a hotel, it is a chance for carers to de-stress and recharge. It offers a break from the daily challenges of caring for a family member or friend.
