Kelly Family Charitable Trust
We’re interested in funding charities whose activities involve all or most family members, where possible, in initiatives that seek to tackle problems facing one or more of its members.
We’ve funded charities working in fields including early intervention, mediation, prison services and services for families affected by sexual abuse, physical abuse and domestic violence, among others.
Who can apply
We only fund organisations whose activities take place within the UK.
The trust has decided to prioritise its funding in favour of charities whose activities involve all or most family members where possible, in initiatives that support and encourage the family to work as a cohesive unit in tackling problems that face one or more of its members. The objective is to reinforce the benefit and support that family members as a unit can give to each other.
The three areas of activity that the charity wishes to support are:
Interventions that support families and help them in ways that prevent the fracture of the family unit, eg practical family support, relationship counselling, mediation
Families where sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, alcohol abuse and drug abuse threaten the integrity of the family unit
Prisoners and in particular their families, during and after the period of imprisonment
The trust prefers to support charities whose income is below £500,000. However, larger charities with pioneering pilot projects will be considered.
The trust will consider both capital and revenue grants. The trust is happy to support requests for core funding as well as project-based grants, and actively encourages applications from relatively new organisations to help them become established.
We do consider repeat funding requests, on receipt of satisfactory progress reports.
Applications should be supported by annual accounts where available.
Restrictions
Unsuccessful applicants must wait for 1 year before resubmitting an application.

Non-registered charities
Individual requests for grants
National charities (only regional projects will be considered)
General appeals
Organisations with specific religious or political agendas
How to apply
All applications should be made on the Kelly Family Charitable Trust’s official application form, which can be downloaded. Applications should be sent by email to mail@kfct.org.
Grants will generally be worth up to £5,000, but trustees will consider requests for higher amounts.
Grants are awarded twice a year. Applications must be submitted by 1st March and 1st September. The trustees will ask for more details from those charities that pass the initial screening and may visit them.
