GVS celebrates its fantastic volunteers with a very special Afternoon Tea during Volunteers Week 2024

On Monday 3rd June, the first day of Volunteers’ Week, Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) celebrated its priceless volunteers with an Afternoon Tea at its CF61 Community Centre in Llantwit Major.

This was no ordinary afternoon tea with almost thirty of GVS’ volunteers attending. The dedicated volunteers were served with beautiful sandwiches, sumptuous cakes and a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. GVS staff ensured the volunteers were deservedly spoilt to celebrate their volunteering achievements.

Lynda Wallis Hawkins, GVS Trustee Volunteer, who attended the event said:

“Thank you so much for the wonderful Afternoon Tea celebration event at CF61. I just wanted to thank all the staff involved. It was so unexpected which made it even nicer and it was laid out so professionally you would imagine it was done by experts. I know that everyone enjoyed their afternoon and the gifts which were received at the end of the event.

“Volunteering can be both a pleasure and a privilege, bringing the opportunity to give back to your community and helping others who need assistance. This GVS does in spades. It is a pleasure to volunteer with you all and thank you for the afternoon tea today.”

The celebration event was superbly concluded with a free raffle and both beautiful and entertaining singing from the children of St Illtyds Primary School in Llantwit Major.

GVS would like to thank the following companies for their generous gifts for our volunteers - Pastures Green Florist; Uno’s Pet shop; Nickleby’s Book Store; Asda; Tesco; Iceland Warehouse; Morrisons; Thai Story; Spar and Filco.

GVS would especially like to thank its volunteers for making a huge difference to both the organisation and the local communities that we serve. GVS is truly blessed with a dedicated Board of Trustees, superb Social Media and Administration support, skilled Gardeners at both CF61 in Llantwit Major and St Pauls in Penarth and our fantastic FoodShare volunteers who support both of our FoodShare projects in Llantwit Major and St Athan.
