Alison Owens supports GVS’ Community buildings in Llantwit Major and Penarth
Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) recently appointed a new and already valued member of its team to support its community work in Llantwit Major (CF61) and Penarth (St Pauls).
GVS supports over half a million pounds worth of funding bids in the Vale of Glamorgan
GVS has measured its impact for 2022-2023 by recently producing its annual Impact Report. GVS’ small but effective team has produced some outstanding results in the past year, culminating in vital support to the vibrant local Third Sector organisations it serves.
A kaleidoscope of beauty
GVS recently held its AGM in its newly renovated and beautifully restored St Paul’s Community Centre in Arcot Street, Penarth. St Pauls’ stained glass windows were the mesmerising attraction on the day. The Impact Report, produced in both English and Welsh is available to download.

Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) is hosting The Big Volunteering Fayre on Wednesday 24th January 2024 at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry from 10am to 2.00pm. The annual Fayre is the biggest volunteering event in the Vale of Glamorgan. It’s the ideal opportunity for charities, community groups, projects and clubs to showcase their work and recruit volunteers. At the Fayre you will be able to talk first-hand to members of the public of all ages, who express an interest in volunteering.

Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) is hosting an “in person” Annual General Meeting at its beautifully restored community building St Pauls in Penarth.
GVS member organisations have priority booking to attend the event on Wednesday, 25th October at 10.00am finishing by 12noon which is followed by a light buffet lunch.

GVS’ Design Service extends to pull-up banners, PVC banners, magazines, leaflets, event programmes and lots more! Most recent members’ projects have included designing a PVC banner, pull-up banners, posters and postcards.

Glamorgan Voluntary Services (GVS) supports community and charitable organisations operating in the Vale of Glamorgan and manages three community buildings. If you require a community space in Llantwit Major or Penarth for exercise classes, choir practice, meetings or even office space, our buildings could meet your needs.
Third Sector Capital Fund 2023
The Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Regional Partnership Board has allocated £150,000.00 funding from the Welsh Government’s Housing with Care Fund (HCF), to support new third sector community services in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. The Third Sector Capital Fund is open for applications from Tuesday, 5th September 2023, with a deadline for submission of 12pm on Friday, 29th September 2023.

The GVS 2023 GVS Annual General Meeting will be held “in person” at St. Paul’s Community Centre, Arcot Street, Penarth, CF64 1EU on Wednesday, 25th October at 10.00am finishing by 12noon followed by a light buffet lunch. Further details on how to register will be sent a little later but this is to give you notice so that you can save the date.
FoodShare Pantry gets a beautiful new makeover!
Our FoodShare Pantry at CF61 in Llantwit Major continues to grow and go from strength to strength. July saw the completion of the room makeover with new external doors directly into the pantry, a clean lick of white paint throughout and a beautiful new wood floor.
Sue Dickson, local artist, raises over £1,100 for MND Association
Over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of June at CF61 in Llantwit Major, local artist Sue Dickson had an exhibition and sale of her life’s art work. All proceeds were in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association, a cause very close to the heart of the Dickson family. Hoddnant was open to the public between 11am and 3pm both days, with refreshments available for visitors.
